'Halfway through Papa Oo Mow Mow, their singer Fez stalks on stage to stand rigid in front of the mike, clutching his pint and fag, whilst all around him, the band shake and shimmy to the mutant rhythms of the wild psychotic surf. Then it hits you, these guys are the mutant bastard offspring sired by an unholy alliance of the Beach Boys and The Cramps.'

Zircon - Up For It!

'How much do I love this bunch of superannuated surfabillies? More than the number of syllables in the word bopshowaddywaddy. Any band with song titles such as "Like Wow Wow She's a Mau Mau" and "Greasy Chicken" is worth a dozen Radioheads in my book.'

'The Sluts blend Surf with other scattergun influences - The Ventures, The Shadows and Dick Dale - as well as a touch of the Stray Cats and The Meteors with a bit of metal thrown in. As they fire off bursts of unrehearsed 18 certificate repartee, usually instigated by lead singer/harpist Fez - ex Suicidal Flowers - you howl your way through the set as well as knacker your eardrums.'

'a mass of gaudy Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, rock n roll triumphalism and the best cover of 'Material Girl' you're ever gonna hear.' Scruffster
